Mac n' Cheese

Delicious mac and cheese with bits of ham and broccoli baked to yummy perfection.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz shell pasta
  • 1 lb broccoli
  • 1 ham steak, cubed
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp thyme
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper
  • 1/2 tsp ground mustard
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 tsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 3 cups cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs & 1 tsp butter (combined)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400
  2. Cook pasta according to instructions, except 2 minutes before done add broccoli florrets
  3. melt 1/4 cup butter in saucepan, add flour, thyme, pepper, nutmeg, mustard. Whisk and cook for 3 minutes.
  4. Whisk in milk. Add in salt and worcestershire. Cook 8 minutes until thick
  5. turn off heat and add in 2 1/4 cups cheddar
  6. mix pasta and sauce in baking dish. Top with breadcrumbs and reserved cheddar
  7. bake 20 minutes
